Artisan Bread

My friend Kitty gave us a loaf of cranberry nut artisan bread for a wedding gift... and a book called "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day." It's great!

You mix up the batter in batches that will make 3-5 loaves and put it in a bowl in the fridge and use it over a period of days or even weeks. Some of the breads take 40 minutes to rise, some an hour or more once you take them out of the refrigerator... but except for waiting on them to rise or bake, you seriously only put about 5 minutes of work at a time in these breads... LOVE it! No kneading, no punching down and reshaping. You just mix everything together once... pop in the fridge... take out what you need, sprinkle a little flour and shape into a loaf... let rise and pop it in the oven... we've had crusty white bread, soft white bread, buttermilk bread and cinnamon raisin bread so far... there are dozens of recipes. I think today since blueberries are in season, I want to make the blueberry/lemon curd coffee cake bread... wouldn't that be great with morning coffee!
